Ponytails, Toenails, Nails, Nails, Nails

Remember when i said that Mia asked me to paint her "ponytails" referring to her toenails?

Just now she pointed at her hair and said "Can you take my toenails out?"

ahhh!!!

Sunday, March 18

Those synonyms will get you every time!

This morning in church Mia was sitting on my lap and as the pastor was praying "Oh God, we invite your presence into this place" Mia said in her typically LOUD 2 year old voice and gigantic dimpled smile "WE'RE ALL GOING TO GET PRESENTS!!! WE'RE GETTING PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

HILARIOUS.
at least we now know she is listening and paying attention.

another notable thing she says, when she wants me to paint her toenails pink she says "Mama, will you paint my pony tails?"

You gotta love this girl!

SCORE!!!!!!!!

Yesterday Jackson had his first soccer game of the season and he was awesome! He scored 4 goals in the 2nd half of the game. They had not even had a single practice yet and he was great! He had a LOT of fun and a BEAMING smile when the coach said to him as we were leaving "Way to go Jackson! You tore it up today!"

the rest of the day Jackson reminded us : "I really tore it up today at soccer!" so cute. Everytime he scored a goal he turned and looked right at his Mama with a HUGE SMILE!

so proud!

This morning at church was Jackson's first time to take communion with us. It was a really special time between him, Phil and I. He is just the sweetest little guy and we are so thrilled he is ours!

the new way to eat pickles

Mia came to me after I foolishly sat her in front of a practically full jar of pickles and said
"My ate ALLLL the PIIIIICKLES!!!!!!!!!"

and she did.

(she ate them like they were tiny watermelons and set the rinds aside.)

what's that?

This morning I woke up to hearing Mia in Ella's room saying my name over and over "Mama... mama... mama" in this particular way she will do when she needs me. So as I am about to open Ella's door I am thinking "What in the world is Mia doing in here?!" I opened the door and Mia was no where in site, Ella was standing at the foot of her crib smiling and waving and saying "Mama... mama" I was so surprised, not because she was saying my name (something she has done for months), but because she sounded EXACTLY like MIA!!!!!! Those cute little girls!

Last night I made brownies. They were not going to be done until at least 30 minutes after the kids were in bed, so I lovingly did NOT mention that I was making the chocolaty treat for Phil and I to indulge in while we hung out on the couch, because that would just be cruel... ;)!

This morning Jackson walked over to the kitchen counter and said "I KNEW i smelled brownies last night!" And so, keeping with the loving mother that I am... I gave him one! Happy Friday love bug!!

So Mia just came downstairs and Jackson excitedly said "Mia! There are brownies! Do you want one?"

She stared at him with her sleepy eyes, crazy hair and coldie (blanket) in hand and said "I got up just!"
and no brownie was had by her... just like Mama... some things are just NOT meant for breakfast! Jackson, just like daddy, does not agree!

Ah.... "I got up just!" and this day is good.

Thursday, March 15

or you could call it...

Today on the back patio Mia shouted out

"Oh no! There's a Holy Poly on my towel! Can you come get the Holy Poly for me?"

isn't 2 1/2 year old vernacular so great?

some funny tidbits from Jacks and Mia

from Jacks:
  • "Daddy, did you do a good job at work today?"
  • "You're my favorite Mama! You're the prettiest Mama!"
  • "I haven't seen one of THOSE in YEARS!!!!!!!!"
  • "Remember that time I got a band aide for you? I was a SUPER HERO! and that time I saved Mia from the ants? I ran faster than I have ever run! I was a super hero that time too!"

From Mia Anabel:

  • “You finished all your cereal Mama?! Good JOB!!”
  • Walking into target we passed by the Starbucks sign and mia said “You want a nonfat Nilla Mama? Me too!!” so while we waited for our drinks (a latte for Mama and a hot chocolate for you) you said “Where’s my ½ caff? I want my ½ caff!!”
    SOOO CUTE!!
  • Mia hiding her sippy cup or half eaten apple in the silverware drawer.
  • Hey! Wait a minute!!
  • Mia is always putting her purse on her arm, heading for the door and saying “Bye Bye! I am going to practice!! Give me a kiss goodbye!”
Isn’t that cute? She’s already ready for the worship team!
  • She will sing this over and over with her eyes closed as she spins around and around: "Jesus loves me Jesus loves me Jesus loves me"
  • One night when Phil said "Ok, Mia! Ready for bed?" she responded with "Actually daddy, I would like to stay up and watch dora!"
  • She gave Phil a kiss on the cheek and said “Ur Welcome!”

Sunday, March 11

Oh Mia! Oh My a!

Mia is hysterical. Hysterical.
Here are a just a few from the last 2 days:
  • the other night we were walking out the door to go meet Phil for dinner. We have a "goth" looking teenage girl who lives across the street and she happened to be walking down the middle of the road. Mia said in her typical super loud voice: "HEY! WHY IS THAT SCARY PERSON WALKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD??!!!!"
  • then, while at dinner, Phil asked "Who would like to pray 1st?" (both of them love to say grace - Mia sings hers, while Jackson just prays). Mia tilted her head up, closed her eyes and in the sweetest breathiest voice, she began to sing "Thank you Jesus for our food" -- Jackson was still talking saying he wanted to be first to pray. She is looking all angelic and then all of the sudden, snaps her eyes open, lunges her face into his and SCREAMS at the top of her lungs "I AM GOING TO PRAY FIRST" with all the fury of a 2 year old. then promptly closed her eyes, tilted her head back and continued her sweet breathy song "And your many blessings, Amen!"
Phil and I could hardly contain our laughter!
  • then she joined the "I said to Daddy" club this weekend when she was talking to me about what she wanted for her birthday party this year... she said "I said to Daddy I want that princess cake!" "I said to Daddy...." gotta love that phrase!

she's a cutie! that's for sure!

JAAACKUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night Ella was sitting at the open back door watching her older siblings play outside... she kept calling "Bubba!! Bubba! BuUUUBA!"

and when she realized that apparently was not working she shouted out clear as a bell

"JACKUN!!!!!!!!!! Jack un! Jack un! Jackun!!"

that little girl... what a smartie!

A recent Jacksonism

While you and daddy were fixing the lawnmower I came out and said “How’s it going out here guys?” and daddy said “Not very good!” as he was leaning down trying to get it to work. You smiled up at me and said in true family form –

“I said to Daddy ‘What’s wrong with that Baby?!”

Sooooo cute!

“You did!?” I said “That is sooo funny! Did daddy laugh?” and Daddy said “Yep, he’s hilarious!” and I said “You sure are funny Jacks, you have a great sense of humor!” and you said “I know.”

I just love how you are already telling me funny things you do and say with an “I said to Daddy” just like I am always doing when I talk to Grammy or Daddy about my day!

Yesterday we sat out in the backyard on a blanket and ate grapes and talked to each other and then read some books over and over. It was such a special time with just you and I while the girls napped. You are my sunshine and I hope we are always close and love to talk.

Firehouse!

We went on our first homeschool field trip a few weeks ago with our church group. It was a lot of fun! We went to the firehouse and got a tour, were able to be on the pumper truck and then had lunch at Firehouse subs!

The following week we went to a cool old theatre downtown to see a musical version of the book Harry The Dirty Dog! (http://www.artspower.org/shows/harry-the-dirty-dog/index.htm).

It was a lot of fun! We had checked the book out from the library the week before, so we were very familiar with the story and all 3 kids had a great time!

We took a little field trip to visit Grammy's friend's horse! A new baby colt had just been born on Valentine's day and was only 5 days old! It was a lot of fun!

Happy 10 and a half months Ella Isabel!

My dear sweet little Ella,

Happy 10½ months old to you! This month you have blossomed more and more into a little sister that loves to play with her brother and sister. You are just so much fun trying to keep up and already do everything that they do! When Mia makes a sound or a scream of joy, you will mimic her and do the same sounds. When Bubba was standing between the couches with his arms and legs out like a “star” you turned to look at him with your arms between the coffee table and couch and legs spread open with a big smile and he exclaimed “Ella is a star too!!” You are eating almost everything we eat at the table now and you are a good and healthy eater. You have a big smile and love to eat with us. When we all start sharing with daddy about our day, you start to jabber on to daddy too and smile at all of us. You have discovered the stairs and how to climb them, as a matter of fact, you are climbing them right now – just a second while I rescue you…

You are so sweet! You just want to follow us wherever we go. You want to walk so badly and are cruising and pulling up on every single thing. This is not helpful for your bruise ratio!
You talk all of the time and have added the word “DOG” to your repertoire as well as “NO” (“Na na na na na na na!”). You and I were walking holding hands the other day and Gracie walked and stood right under our arms. You said “Doh! Nana na nanananananana!!” it was soo cute!
You will squeal and wave your arms in delight when the kids are dancing or running around. You love to take walks and feel the wind blowing your little bit of blonde hair in the breeze. You will lift your head up, close your eyes and smile a big big grin. Like you are thanking God for the beautiful day. You still pump your legs in sheer delight anytime you are excited. When daddy comes home you start to say “Dada! Dada! Daddddeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!” and pump your legs and smile a big squinty grin.

You are still nursing and snuggling into me and patting me or rubbing my neck while you do. You are just a sweet sweet girl and such an added blessing to our family! I really cannot believe that in as little as six weeks… unbelievable the way time has flown by.

I love you my tinybelle.

Love,
Mama

Pictures:
1 - Ella at daddy's birthday party.
2 - With the entire box of crackers!
3 - eatting with her spoon in her mouth, but still shoveling the food in with her hand
4 - feet up on the table - ALWAYS!
5 - taking a bath in the sink. Because it is important her ears stay dry, it has been much easier for me to bathe her in the sink where i can make sure she doesn't slip! Mia decided to help out!
