Potty Post Day 3 - I think she's moved in...

So here is our downstairs bathroom where most of the action takes place, and as you can see, I think she's moved in. Her flip flops, dress, 2 pairs of panties, pile of toilet paper, and hand towel are on the floor. The stool has taken permanent residence at the sink for proper handwashing and the potty seat is in tact! She has done wonderfully all day so far!

After speech therapy this morning, we were all in the car and buckled in. ALL OF US WERE IN THE CAR AND BUCKLED IN PEOPLE, when Mia announces "I need to go potty!" (never mind that we tried to go while INSIDE the office and she was so distracted by the pretty cabinet and flowers in the bathroom that she forgot the reason i was holding her on top of the toilet. So I hesitated, thinking and she said louder "My Need GO POTTY!!!", so being the terrific super Mama that I am, I said "Ok! HURRY! Get out Ella's side Jackson!" So I get her unbuckled, grab the baby and Jackson and I run with them to the bathroom. The public bathroom that WAS NOT CLOSE. We get inside the two stall bathroom to find them both occupied. Occupied by two ladies having a nice leisurely conversation with each other. I tried to loudly tell Mia to wait her turn, in a voice that was clearly talking to a small child. Nothing. So then i just announced "We have a two year old out here!" very cheerfully. The woman got it and bolted out of the stalls. I knelt down to hold her over the toilet. The toilet in a public restroom. Public restrooms, the places that gross me out more than most anything else. The places where I flush with my foot and will not touch one single thing. So here I am, once again, squatting down on the floor of a public restroom trying to ignore the nastiness of it all. And she DID. NOT. GO.

*BIG SMILE FROM ME*

"It's ok... it's ok..." while practicing my Lamaze breathing that was obviously made for moments like these and not the pain of childbirth (We'll save that for a later post)!

She held her little bladder for the next hour and a half until we got home. But make no mistake, we went to the even nastier restroom at the Chinese restuarant TWO times with no success. I think I will start carrying a potty seat of something, maybe that will help her. Oh the things we moms do for our children!! At least she is trying! And doing VERY well!!

UPDATE: Mia only had ONE accident today, which i am hardly counting at ALL, since she was standing in the bathroom calling for me to lift her up to the seat and i didn't make it in time!
Day 3, 1 accident, dry panties the rest of the day. way to go Mia Anabel!

You should write a book! That was so funny & cute. I really like your writing style. Thanks so much for the link to your blog. It brightens my dull, lonely days to read it and see the kids. If feel like I'm starting to get to know them! Who knows how long it might be before we have any little ones around here again.
